LEG taps in to Harry Potter magic
The Daily News nline
inc]–> Harry Potter has finally cast his spell on the LEG video game franchise. Interactive Entertainment and Traveler’s Tale Games confirmed at the E3 Expo this week the long-standing rumors that a Harry Potter video game using the LEG formula was in development. The formula — which features characters and environments rendered as the familiar chunky building blocks of the plastic Lego toys — has proven popular with Star Wars Indiana Jones and Batman. LEG Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is due out next year. It will be based on the first four books and movies and tell the story of Harry’s first four years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry the companies said. Players will have access to the book and film series’ large cast of characters including Harry Ron and Hermione.
Classic review: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

This review originally ran on Aug. ] The prospect of having to read an 800-page novel billed as “Harry Potter for adults” was enough to make this weary book critic pine for an invisibility cloak. But for those of you who like me can’t endure another charmless opening at the Dursleys’ take heart: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is no Harry Potter knockoff. It’s altogether original – far closer to Dickens than Rowling. In fact I’m so in love with Susanna Clarke’s debut novel that I must have been beaned on the head with a golden snitch.

What’s that got to do with anything? We’re talking magic people! Magic! As of this moment my summer plans include nearly daily trips to the park weekly hiking swimming and barbecuing twice-monthly trips to museums concerts and other free kid activities and a week-long family trip to Music Arts and Technology camp in Evanston Wyo. In addition to all that we plan to garden repaint the kitchen cupboards strip sand and carve walking sticks for each of us and create a craft room in which my children can become the next great modern artists. We also can’t forget the many family festivities we have planned for the release of the new Harry Potter movie. Having experienced this rash of planning at the beginning of many a summer vacation I can tell you it’s never really worked out the way I hoped it would. By the end of summer I’m usually looking over my list and thinking “h right we were going to do some of this stuff. ” There’s usually a mad dash to make it up the final week before school starts again but the enthusiasm is kind of gone by that point. This year however things are going to be different.
