Review: Melissa Anelli’s ‘Harry a History’ gives us a Potter fix
Tampabay.com FL
Tales is not about Harry and his friends but with more than a year past since the last Potter volume and eight months to wait for the next movie (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) fans are likely to be lining up for this little book already. Tales is not the only new Potter-related book on the shelves though. Harry a History: The True Story of a Boy Wizard His Fans and Life Inside the Harry Potter Phenomenon is a memoir by Melissa Anelli who runs the Leaky Cauldron an enormously popular Web site for Potter fans. The book is an insider’s view — the foreword is by Rowling herself — of the astounding fandom that exploded around the books and films especially on the Web by a young woman who was at the heart of it. There’s more to it than fangirl gushing (although there’s some of that especially when the author meets Rowling). Anelli also provides an interesting history of the Potter phenomenon from how the books got written and published and their revolutionary effect on children’s publishing to the unprecedented role the Internet played in connecting the series’ millions of fans around the world and feeding the Potter frenzy. Anelli reports engagingly on everything from her visits to the Potter movie sets to her interview with a Georgia woman who has crusaded to bar the books from school libraries.
“Twilight” is the new “Harry Potter” for teen moviegoers CBA …

The theater had burst out with applause and shrill screams for the new teen phenomenon. Some may ask “What does this guy have on Zac Efron?” New teen sensations may not last that long but since Edward is immortal he may be around for a while. Some question if this movie is just a substitute for the addicted Harry Potter fans waiting until the coming summer release date. So who would win in a fight a vampire or a wizard? Who knows? Fantasy is fantasy but wizards and vampire being similar? Please. The film adaptations of the Harry Potter series are dwindling as the Twilight series is just kicking off. Neither Hollywood nor the guys at the Harry Potter studio has seen the last of the Twilight series. With the film’s opening weekend already grossing over $70 million the announcement of sequels to come has fans thirsting for more.

In the aftermath of the battle the Ministry is forced to end their smear campaign and Umbridge is removed from Hogwarts awaiting a formal investigation. Dumbledore explains that he had attempted to distance himself from Harry all year hoping it would lessen the risk of Voldemort discovering and using the connection between the two. While the students head home from Hogwarts at the end of the academic year Harry tells his friends that they have one thing Voldemort does not: something worth fighting for.
