Terminus programming deadline extended

“The programming for Terminus is drawn from the proposals made to the conference,” noted Hallie Tibbetts, a Lead Event Organizer. “We invite scholars, professionals, and fans to share their analyses and interests surrounding Harry Potter and the related phenomenon with our attendees. Between the release of the final book and the continued fan interest, there are still hundreds of avenues to explore in presentations, and there’s nothing quite so exciting as discussing Harry Potter with over a thousand other attendees who understand the allure of the books, films, and fan community. ” The conference welcomes proposals for papers (solo and pre-empaneled), panels, workshops, and roundtable discussions. In addition, there are presentation options for fanfiction readings, fan art and craft portfolios, and gallery art, and interactive booths for writing, editing, drawing, and art critique. Terminus is presented by Narrate Conferences, Inc.

Manga has become big business internationally and there will be dozens of novels, adaptations of old classics and folk literature available in picture format this season. Examples are “Amulet” by Scholastic and Hyperion’s “Thoreau at Walden,” based on writing from Henry David Thoreau. Editors are capitalizing on characters that have made their mark, such as the “Harry Potter” look-alikes, children succeeding on their own initiative, and those that exit for adventure to the “otherworld. ” Books in series format continue to be the rage, whether there are repeated characters (”Pendragon”), familiar settings (”Magic Tree House”) or recurring mystery (”The A to Z Mysteries”). Science fiction themes (robots, time and body shifting and international terrorists) often appear in series format.

Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus give the ‘Best of Both Worlds’

Butler says the movie made January the most heavily trafficked month in the service’s seven-year history, eclipsing last July, when Transformers and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix opened. Even with its limited run, Butler predicts Hannah Montana will be February’s highest-grossing movie. Last weekend, advance orders for the film outsold Meet the Spartans, the weekend’s top movie with a gross of $18. This week, it accounts for more than 90% of Fandango’s sales.
