Although cold towards one another at first, the two rivals soon find that they have more in common than originally supposed â namely, a mutual love for the otherâs supple young body. Rowlings fans have taken on an even more ambitious agenda for social change with the Harry Potter Alliance (HPA). “Did you ever wish that Harry Potter was real? Well, it kind of is. After all, both our worlds face ‘dark and difficult times,’ ” says the HPA website. The fan group draws parallels between issues and events in the book series and major political issues currently facing the real world â genocide, discrimination, global warming, poverty, torture, and more. “[T]he HP Alliance is dedicated to bringing together Harry Potter fans from everywhere to spread love and fight the Dark Arts in the real world,” explains the group’s website.

A small number of hijacked movie cell-phone recordings are beginning to appear on BitTorrent sites. This month, a 21-year-old Australian man was.

Movies: A red-hot summer at the box office banishes fears in Hollywood
Providence Journal – Aug 31, 2007
None of those box-office disappointments had elements to pull in the 13- and 14-year-old male ticket buyers that many summer films aim for. Unfortunately, adults didn’t turn out in record numbers for those films either, they way they did for something as brawny and action-packed as The Bourne Ultimatum — the third film in its series, which has taken in nearly $200 million so far — or Live Free or Die Hard, the fourth in that Bruce Willis series, whose predecessor was released 12 years earlier. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, fifth in that series, had the good marketing sense to be released just as the hubbub was exploding over author J. Rowling’s imminent publication of the final book in her popular series. Reviews for the film were generally mixed, but that didn’t stop Harry Potter fans from turning it into a $275-million hit. On the other hand, even a $100-million box office windfall does not guarantee that a film is a success.
