26–To many children (and adults, too) the world of wizards and magical beings in J. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series is pure enchantment that expands the imagination. To others, Rowling’s work spells enticement into an underworld of witchcraft and presents ideas contrary to their beliefs. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” books are on the list of the nation’s most frequently challenged books, titles that have received formal complaints in attempts to remove them from the shelves of libraries and schools. Solo set for Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker

Simply called Jarvis, it will be the singer’s first album since Pulp went on indefinite hiatus in 2002. The Sheffield musician, 43, recently released an internet-only single, Running The World. He also appeared in last year’s Harry Potter film, The Goblet of Fire, playing alongside members of Radiohead in a band called The Weird Sisters. Pulp were one of the key bands of the Britpop era, scoring hits with songs such as Common People, Mis-Shapes and Babies. They won recognition for Cocker’s lyrics, which painted a more sardonic view of Cool Britannia than those of his contemporaries. But the band faltered as their frontman struggled to cope with the pressures of fame. The singer now lives in Paris, and releases his new album on 13 November.
