Matsuoka’s publishing company referred inquiries to a representative in Switzerland. Tax authorities declined comment, citing privacy issues. The series about the boy wizard has been a major success in Japan, with the last edition, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, spending four weeks at the top of the book wholesaler Tohan’s bestseller list earlier this year.

She is the only blind student in her school. She uses a Braille notetaker in class and gets her books in Braille. When she’s not studying and reading her favorite Harry Potter books in Braille, she spends her free time playing goal ball — a soccerlike sport played by blind and visually impaired kids. “Anyone can play, but everyone is blindfolded,” her mother said. Lucas is the daughter of Warren and Bonnie Lucas. Bonnie Lucas is also blind from congenital glaucoma. The family has few books on tape “because I want her to focus on Braille,” her mother said, but the family with three other children purchased a Harry Potter CD for the trip to Los Angeles.
