Did you enjoy the party at the palace?

The Harry Potter section was the best and once again Harry Ron and Hermione save the day!. It was brilliant but my mum and me thought the Queen looked grumpy!.

Well-dressed workaholic: Wage slave to the devil
St. Petersburg Times – Jun 29, 2006
Worse Priestly is no longer beastly – or at least not the unrelenting devil of Weisberger's parody. Played with appropriately pursed lips by Meryl Streep (she definitely should accept more of these villainous roles) the cinematic Priestly emerges as merely a misunderstood workaholic who insists on good taste and excellence and oh also that her coat and purse be hung up and her coffee be hot. Sure she treats Sachs like a lackey sending the assistant to fetch her laundry her dog and the latest Harry Potter books (not yet published) for her twin daughters. Yes in a clever plot twist cooked up for the movie version she betrays her faithful art director (a fussy fashionista played to perfection by Stanley Tucci) to save her job. But Priestly also tears up at the thought of how her divorce will affect her children gives an impassioned speech about the importance of fashion and in the end even tells a prospective employer that he would be "crazy not to hire" her fired assistant. In 2003 when Weisberger published The Devil Wears Prada she was lambasted in some quarters for her own alleged betrayal of a work colleague: Anna Wintour the powerful head of Vogue. Weisberger had worked as Wintour's personal assistant and it was assumed that The Devil Wears Prada was based on some real-life work horrors with the woman the press had dubbed "Nuclear Wintour.

Superman’s 3-D return
USA Today – Jun 29, 2006
“It’s still in the investigative stage. ” Next? Choosing the first live-action spectacular to receive a complete IMAX 3-D makeover. Sony says Spider-Man3 is pretty much out of the running (”We’re just trying to finish the movie” Bruer says) but Warner Bros. could cast a dimensional spell over Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix already booked into large-screen theaters for July 13 next year. Gary Dretzka a digital columnist for website Movie City News believes a new age is dawning for 3-D. “We are long past the point where 3-D only appeals to niche and nerd demographics. Once they get the technology in gear it will be as much an entertainment option as drive-in theaters.

POST OF THE DAY Real Estate Inv. Trusts: REITs
Motley Fool – Jun 29, 2006
Mallbear: Investors are rightfully stomping on the mall sector. Consumers while perhaps not ready to stay at home every day watching “Lucy” re-runs are in deep trouble. High gasoline prices spiking home heating and cooling costs the demise of homes-as-ATM-machines and negative wealth effects from falling home prices are like Harry Potter’s dementors sucking the happiness out of consumers. They have little discretionary income to squander and it’ll be very difficult for mall retailers to pry dollars out of their pockets. Meanwhile mall owners won’t be able to get much blood out of retailer-turnips. Bullymall: First mall REITs’ less than scintillating performance this year is due more to the heavy bets being placed on apartment and office REITs than to forecasts of trouble ahead for mall owners; and if we take out Mills’ dismal performance the remaining mall REITs haven’t lagged too badly. Second if the poor relative performance is due to worried investors they have overreacted.

New Doctor Who tipped for stardom
New Zealand Herald – Jun 29, 2006
Nevertheless 34-year-old Scottish actor David Tennant can lay claim to a dazzling roster of work in Britain. His television roles have included show-stealing roles in both the BBC musical drama Blackpool and the title role of its Casanova. And he also snaffled a part as Voldemort’s henchman in the latest Harry Potter film. But now has come the role that has tipped him from esteemed actor to stardom – the new Doctor Who. When he was he growing up in Paisley Scotland Tennant formed an ambition to be an actor. With uncanny prescience he declared that one day he wanted to play his hero – Doctor Who. Tennant was the son of a minister.

Good clean tween fun
The Age – Jun 29, 2006
THE archetypal boarding school has sustained storytellers andaudiences for generations. From the jolly lacrosse sticks andmidnight feasts of Enid Blyton’s many boarding-school books throughthe magic of Harry Potter’s time at Hogwarts children have lappedup the notions of freedom implicit in an adolescent home away fromhome. Funnily enough the successful Australian tween series BlueWater High is also structured around this very English notion. Creator Noel Price’s stylish and contemporary drama has captivatedteens from around the world by echoing elements of tales thatentertained their parents and grandparents since the 1940s. With the second series now screening onthe ABC Price happilyreflects on the elements that have made Blue Water such ahit among child and tween viewers in Australia and Europe. Theprogram has also sold into Asia Latin America and the MiddleEast.

“Superman Returns” At The Box Office
comic Book Resources – Jun 29, 2006
It’s been hard to go anywhere without seeing some kind of Superman promotion and that’s why you may see many begrudge the film’s first day success. As mentioned earlier this opening weekend is the real test and while “Superman Returns” will undoubtedly be #1 at the box office (unless “Devil Wears Prada” fans rally like none before) the question is how well it can do before Disney’s venerable “Pirates” franchise returns to theatres. It’s not unlike the battle between Warner Bros’ “Harry Potter” and Disney’s “Chronicles Of Narnia” battle last November. Both films did well but we also saw “Narnia” eat away at much of the young magician’s box office when it debuted. Keep this in mind: “Shrek 2″ opened on a Wednesday with an $11 million debut but managed to set the single day record with a $44 million Saturday. “Superman Returns’” never ending battle will continue through the weekend and may well turn out to be even more successful than some might expect based on reactions to opening day numbers. Stay tuned to CBR News for more on “Superman Returns” and take a moment to check out our.
