Chris Nicholson business manager of Greater Union’s Bondi Junction cinema in Sydney said he had not seen ticket sales as big since the release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire last year. “The Da Vinci Code has exceeded Brokeback Mountain and Walk the Line; they were one-week wonders this is huge” Mr Nicholson said. “We haven’t seen anything this strong since Harry Potter and we are totally sold out. Mr Nicholson said audiences were turning to online booking outlets to purchase their tickets and the phone had been running hot all day. All weeknight as well as all weekend screenings were sold out for the next three weeks he said. “We would normally expect to get three weeks out of a movie but this is one we can play and get a good eight weeks out of. He said despite mostly scathing reviews from critics the overall reaction of patrons had been positive.
